What Colour Door Knobs Are In Style For 2023?

There are many door knobs that are incredibly timeless, standing the test of time in your interiors.

But, interior hardware trends do come and go, this is usually a reflection of changing home decor tastes, and even resurgences of metals and finishes that are working their way back round that circle of evolution.

Join us as we look forward to the next year in our homes and explore what colour door knobs are in style for 2023.

What Colour Doors Knobs Are In Style For 2023?

In 2023, the most on trend colour door knobs are matte black, sage green, polished brass and aged brass metal finishes.

High shine finishes such as polished brass have seen a resurgence, popular in home decor schemes from period properties through to modern.

Matte black remains a popular colour heading into 2023, joined by sage green which is quickly becoming one of the hottest kitchen design colour schemes too.

Matte Black

Matte Black was ever as popular in 2022, and its popularity reigns strong as we head into 2023.

Many home decor schemes opt for matte black accents as they become a defining feature in a room, helping to ground the rest of your colour scheme.

Matte black door knobs are just one part of the interior hardware story in a home, and tying in with other features and black accents helps to create a cohesive feel.

Matte black door knobs are a firm feature in modern homes, monochromatic schemes and even traditional homes. Yet one question that continually gets thrown about is, but will black door knobs go out of style?

Like anything, colours and trends of door knobs do regularly change in cycles. However, black accents are a defining characteristic in certain home decor schemes such as modern style. When choosing black door knobs it pays to have them if it’s something you really like, rather than just having them to fit in with a trend.

This type of door knob is also a complementary colour to many shades, it looks stunning against a sage green door (very on trend!), classic white or even navy blue. Navy blue & black is one colour combination everyone shakes their head at when it comes to clothing, but these two dark hues look sensational together in an interior.

Polished Brass

Polished brass has always been seen as a highly opulent and elegant finish, best reserved for art deco style. Yet, it is currently benefiting from a huge resurgence, this beautiful finish has been adopted in farmhouse, modern, traditional and maximalist home decor schemes.

There’s something very likeable, and warm about polished brass, whilst only a little bit is needed for an elegant accent.

It’s likely that we will see a lot more of this warm metal finish in homes over the coming year.

For something that is used and appraised on a daily basis, a polished brass door knob will truly impress with every appraisal it gets. Polished brass comes in a number of finishes, but a satin finish is a great all rounder, it has a more subtle sheen to it and won’t require constant polishing like polished finishes can demand.

If polished brass feels slightly too ‘flashy’ for your interiors, the good news is that other brass finishes are in too.

Aged Brass

Aged brass lends a much more subtle, refined look than polished brass, yet equally as elegant and regal in a space.

An aged brass finish was typically appreciated in only period properties, but its almost bronze sheen in some lights makes it perfect for modern, farmhouse and traditionally styled properties.

Interior design styles do change, mixing metals used to be an interior design disaster, but we will see much more of mixing metals in 2023 as it’s a way to create beautiful visual interest, and build warmth in a space.

You could mix aged brass and polished brass freely through the door knobs or other interior hardware fittings, but in subtle doses.

Sage Green

Hand painted wooden knobs tend to be less popular as colour scheme trends continually change. This means that they don’t offer the same timeless appeal that some metal finishes do.

If committing to the next in season colour is your thing, then sage green is going to be huge in 2023. We are already seeing a huge surge in the use of this colour throughout kitchens, bedrooms and living rooms.

It’s such a tranquil and relaxing colour which lends itself to use in an interior, creating an ultra relaxed, yet stylish space.

All of our wooden knobs at Oak & Forge can be painted in your choice of colour, so you can choose the perfect style and shape, and paint to your chosen specification. Of course, the beauty of hand painted knobs is that they can be changed, as easily as they’re painted!

Not seen a style you like? There are a multitude of other door knob finishes that will still work in your interiors in 2023 including;

  • Copper

  • Polished Chrome

  • Brushed Chrome

  • Black Nickel

  • Traditional wooden finishes

Design trends do continually change, our best advice is if the colour door knob is one that you love and fits with your home decor scheme, then absolutely go for it. If it’s something that you’re only choosing to be on trend, then it’s probably the wrong choice that will become dated very quickly in your interior.

These colour door knobs are the hottest finishes for 2023, and they’re incredibly complementary with many home decor styles and colour schemes so they can work in a multitude of spaces.
