What Colour Door Knobs Are In Style For 2024?

The interior design world is constantly evolving, and usually follows a similar pattern to fashion where once dated designs see a resurgence some years later.

Interior hardware is arguably the perfect finishing touch to an interior, and one that will make or break your overall design.

So, with 2024 on the horizon, join us as we share what colour door knobs are in style for 2024.

What Colour Door Knobs Are In Style For 2024?

In 2024, the most on trend colour door knobs are rich wooden finishes, antique brass, matte black, rusty reds and unlacquered brass finishes which patina with age.

Matte black remains a popular colour heading into 2024, with rich wooden finishes and rusted reds quickly becoming ever popular colour trends throughout paint and interiors.

Whilst brass has gained popularity in recent years, there is a lean towards antique finishes for more of a subtle look and unlacquered finishes which will patina with age for a distressed, rustic feel that is perfect for modern and traditional interiors.

Rich, Wooden Finishes

Paint trends are a great precursor of interior hardware and what complementary finishes are welcomed in an interior.

Rich, indulgent colours such as rusty reds, deep chocolates and heritage yellows are leading the way in 2024.

There is a real need for cosy, cocooning colours and rich wooden finishes are the perfect way to play on this, whilst delivering warm definition to a door.

Look for rich wooden finishes such as walnut to get the look in your home.

Matte Black

Matte black remains a strong contender in an interior when it comes to hardware finishes and door knobs in general.

They bring a touch of modernity and are a great way to pull together a room where other black accents are also featured.

Black door knobs are perfect for almost any colour of door from wooden finishes to sage green doors, they deliver definition and ground the space.

Whilst black will bring modernity, matte black door knobs will also suit contemporary spaces and Scandinavian interior design schemes.

Unlacquered Brass Finishes

When it comes to brass finishes it does tend to be down to personal preference and home life as to what brass finish you opt for.

Unlaquered brass finishes are growing in popularity, they patina with age so they develop a natural tarnish which can add to an overall decor scheme, well suited to traditional and rustic inspired interiors.

If you have a busy household, this type of door knob might not be the best feature. They shouldn’t be cleaned with household cleaners and require additional maintenance than lacquered finishes do.

Unlacquered finishes are great for pairing with other metals in the home for visual interest such as polished brass and antique brass.

Antique Brass Finishes

Polished brass has been hugely popular in the last few years, especially with modern and farmhouse style interiors, but the glam look is starting to phase out, and instead people are leaning towards more subtle finishes such as antique brass.

Antique brass will be a predominant feature in homes throughout 2024, it brings a more heritage feel to an interior and plays on the paint trends that we will be seeing over the coming year.

It complements darker, more indulgent colour schemes whilst adding to the overall design.

Rusty Red Finishes

One colour that we keep seeing more and more of is rusty red finishes, we’ve had a movement from terracotta into this richer, more indulgent colour.

Whilst it may not be a colour you want to feature across an entire room, it can look incredibly effective on interior hardware and door knobs, bringing a warm pop of colour to a space.

All of our wooden knobs at Oak & Forge can be painted in your choice of colour, so you can choose the perfect style and shape, and paint to your chosen specification. Of course, the beauty of hand painted knobs is that they can be changed, as easily as they’re painted!

There are still other interior hardware trends that are popular in 2024 including;

  • Copper

  • Sage green

  • Traditional wooden finishes

  • Bronze

  • Black Nickel

Design trends do continually change, our best advice is if the colour door knob is one that you love and fits with your home decor scheme, then absolutely go for it.

If it’s something that you’re only choosing to be on trend, then it’s probably the wrong choice that will become dated very quickly in your interior.
